My Proud Mama Moment

Jan 24

2009

In honor of the new member of the Brown family expected to arrive on Wednesday, I have posted some pictures of Tele from the time we first got her almost a year ago.

What?! NO ONE IS PREGNANT. Aaron’s mom is about to get herself a new Airedale Terrier puppy!!! We are so excited for his arrival, and now that she is on Facebook, we are expecting tons of pictures of him soon! His name will be Iva Crush Brown (“Crush” for short).

Favorite Blogs So Far

Jan 15

2009

People ask me all the time which photographers are my favorite. And I will admit, I LOVE to blog-stalk. They become mini-celebrities to me. So here is a list of my favorite blogs that I have found so far (in no particular order). Most are other photographers whose work I greatly admire, some are just friends & family members.

May you be inspired either to take more awesome photographs or to start your own blog! (And let me know if you do so that I can start stalking you).

:)

1. Kimberly Jarman – my absolute first “professional” photo shoot that I did was for Melissa & Joe Terry (and their at-that-time-still-in-the-belly son Isaac), and she showed me Kimberly’s work because their families are good friends (and Kimberly usually does their photo shoots, but she is obviously booked way in advance and lives in Arizona!). So I started looking through her stuff to get inspiration, and I still do.

2. Lauren Clark – our good friend Brett showed me her website, and I was absolutely blown away by her talent and age! She is younger than I am and has accomplished so much with her photography business! I really hope to meet her someday.

3. Eric Ryan Anderson – ah, the reason why I got into photography in the first place. He photographed our friend Ryan, so I immediately started following his blog. THEN, I found out that he was going to be photographing the Live Recording with me, and I have learned so much from him since. One of the nicest and most talented guys out there.

4. Ken Rockwell – warning: this site is for gear nerds ONLY. Aaron found his website and basically taught himself photography by reading everything. If you have a question about any Nikon or Canon equipment, this is the man to go to. He has tried EVERYTHING, compares them, and writes about them in-depth. A terrific resource to go to before you purchase anything.

5. Jessica Claire – rated one of America’s top 10 wedding photographers! Enough said. AND inventor of the Shootsac (which of course has a blog of its own).

6. Shadowplay – SUPER-talented husband-and-wife team from Down Under (she does photography, he does videography). We have gotten all our friends hooked on their stuff because they are just downright creative. Some more people that we would really like to meet someday.

7. Jasmine Star – amazing wedding photographer AND hilarious blog-writer. I only wish I was that gangsta.

8. Vincent Lai – another wedding photographer in Australia. His style is relaxed, informal & candid, so his pictures are just real chill. Plus, he photographs a lot of Asian weddings in Australia (which is fun for me to see since I nixed any hint of Asianness for my own wedding).

9. Amy Headington – local child & maternity photographer. Nothing needs to be said, just check out her stuff. Absolutely amazing.

10. Audrey Hannah – a new find! My good friend Sarah found her stuff (I have her hooked on photographer’s blogs now, yeesh!). She lives in Colorado, so you can imagine the scenery she has to work with.

11. Libby Johnson – Aaron’s cousin and fellow photographer as well, only this blog is about her first pregnancy! We can’t wait to meet William Matthew Johnson! He will be Aaron’s … cousin? Second cousin? Grand cousin? I have no idea how that works.

12. Stacy Burnett – good friend, great writing, awesome stories of how she dressed up as a post-rehab Amy Winehouse. It doesn’t get much better than that.

13. Jenny Buchanan – good friend who is expecting her first baby in August!
