Garsh, how long have we known Ben? Years. Probably about 8 years. So when he started dating Elisa about a year ago, we knew that something was different. We were so honored to capture the proposal, and we are so unbelievably excited to shoot their wedding in May. My favorite part about being a photographer is yes, the big cliche statement of I get to capture special moments in life, but I get to capture special moments in life FOR PEOPLE I CARE ABOUT. And that is just so ridiculously cool.
We started out at the Crescent Hotel in Dallas. Absolutely gorgeous venue, if you have a chance to shoot there, I would highly recommend it. It can be a little intimidating because it’s the most expensive hotel in Dallas – I’m actually surprised that no hoity-toity hotel worker came and stopped me. What can I say – I’m quick like a ninja. But we caught an unusually sunny day in Dallas (lately, it’s been raining cats & dogs), and Ben & Elisa were absolutely radiant!

Next, we hopped over to Highland Park where they like to go for date nights. I strategically parked RIGHT IN FRONT of Anthropologie. And yes, I did a little bit of shopping after the shoot.

We thought that this might be a cool background. It wasn’t.
Lately, I had been in the habit of shooting f/4 and higher, but I decided to shoot as wide open as I possibly could for this session. I don’t normally recommend “testing” settings during a shoot, but somehow, I knew that the light would work well. Bokeh, how I’ve missed you! Favorite #2.
Thanks for laying down in the grass at the risk of getting pelted by squirrels!
You guys are so beautiful together – we can’t wait for your wedding!
